This project identifies crucial issues for the administration and remediation of farm land contaminated with heavy metals, and aims at proposing the relevant amendment to the current administrative measures. By collecting and reviewing both domestic and foreign ordinances and management strategies regarding farmland remediation, the following two strategies were found to be the main trends: (1) remove the contamination from soil, and (2) in-situ stabilization of heavy metals in the soil to reduce hazards and risks. Considering the availability of technology for domestic use, the project proposes the use of promising agricultural management technologies. Afterwards, field experiments will be conducted on Cu, Zn, Cr and Ni contaminated sites to evaluate the performance of the strategies.
